Everything about this place is special. The way the walls are decorated is like a fairy tale with the art deco Madeline drawings on prominent display to remind us of how great the past was. The bartenders wear red vests that are always pressed neatly as if to impress Bobby Short when he played here years ago.
It’s Ok to go back to a different era, filled with joyous music in an up-close setting with some of the greatest and most unheralded musicians in the world. Earl Rose is a gem. Everyone who plays here is first class.
In fact, I’ll make you a bet. If you are ever in NYC and you find yourself in a down or bad mood, go to Bemelman’s and I promise you’ll leave in a great mood.
Thanks to all of you for your support especially Mussie Shore, Fred Jacobs, Kathi Anderson and Larry Lozier
